  1. What does “retiring Nori Regenerative Tonnes” mean?

Retiring means taking a Regenerative Tonne off the market, so that no one can claim the “credit” of removing a tonne of carbon dioxide more than once. This is important for buyers of Nori Regenerative Tonnes, as each Regenerative Tonne is automatically retired when bought and can only be claimed for the time associated with the retirement of their Nori Regenerative Tonnes when reporting on carbon reductions in environmental and sustainability reports. However, a Primary Contact can also choose to retire a Nori Regenerative Tonne unsold that they own. If a Nori Regenerative Tonne is retired unsold, then the Primary Contact has the option to sell the underlying carbon removal claim in a different ecosystem service marketplace. Nori will collect a transaction fee whenever a Nori Regenerative Tonne is retired whether sold or unsold.
